The plot of Code 7 is set in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan – a country which is the first in the world to follow an official state doctrine of gross domestic happiness instead of gross domestic product. The author personally experiences and realizes that it is probably the only country where the fish do not rot from the head down. The heroes Michal and the goddess Kumari from the novels Code 9 and Code 1 and real figures like the Dalai Lama or Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk resist the forces of evil together. They disprove the myth of our civilization about the benefits of a “god of never-ending economic growth”.
