The novel “I´ll Break Through! Štefánik” is on the recommended literature list

Bratislava, April 11 (TASR) – The novel I´ll Break Through! Štefánik – A man of iron will, written by the Slovak author Jozef Banáš and published by the Slovak publishing house Ikar in 2018, is now included in the recommended literature list for students.

Based on three expert reviews by Jana Brišová, Dana Vasilová and Maria Tomková, the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sports of the Slovak Republic has decided to award a “Recommendation Clause” to the comprehensive novel about Milan Rastislav Štefánik. It has been included in the catalogue of recommended books for history classes in 2nd level elementary schools and secondary schools and described as a suitable supplementary didactic material within the category of art literature for students and professional literature for teachers.

“I am extremely honoured and moved. The Ministry of Education has thus fulfilled the wish of many readers for placing this book on the recommended literature list,” says Jozef Banáš emphasising that he highly appreciates this decision. “I believe that it will contribute to an even better knowledge of the life and work of our national giant. On behalf of me and the supporters of M. R. Štefánik I would like to thank all those who were involved in the decision-making process and those who supported the recommendation.”

After receiving the Golden and Platinum Book awards, the prestigious Golden Pen of Ladislav Ťažký, the Vladimír Ferko Reward of the Association of Slovak Writers and the Main Prize of the Slovak Literary Fund, the recommendation of the Ministry of Education is another award for the comprehensive work I´ll Break Through! Štefánik. The novel has been translated into Czech, English and a translation into Russian and Serbian is being prepared. The Russian translation should be on the book market by July 2020. As Banáš says, the forthcoming translation into Serbian should be presented at a book fair in Belgrade in October.
